The best places to eat near Barclays Center are on Flatbush Avenue and the side streets of Prospect Heights, all within a ten minute walk: Pies 'n' Thighs for a fried chicken box (4 minutes), Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue for brisket (4 minutes), Sofreh for a real Persian dinner (4 minutes), and Alta Calidad on Vanderbilt for Mexican with a margarita happy hour (9 minutes). After the show, Junior's is open until midnight on weekends.

Unlike the Garden, Barclays sits at the meeting point of four good neighborhoods: Prospect Heights to the east, Park Slope to the south, Fort Greene to the north and Boerum Hill to the west. You can eat seriously well here without trying very hard. Walking times below are measured on a pedestrian route map from the arena's main plaza at Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, and hours and prices were checked against each place's own site in September 2026.

A timing note from the arena: for Nets and Liberty games, doors open 90 minutes before tip-off; concert door times vary by event. There is no re-entry, and bags larger than 10 by 6 by 2 inches are turned away, so do not show up with a backpack of leftovers.

Pies 'n' Thighs

WebsiteMap

The Williamsburg fried chicken institution opened this bigger second location on Flatbush in spring 2026, and it is the best quick meal near the arena. The fried chicken box, three bone-in pieces with a biscuit and a side, is $20 on the current menu, and a slice of pie (banana cream, bourbon pecan) is $8. The chicken biscuit at $12.50 is the eat-while-walking version.

Go for: the chicken box and a slice of pie. Know before you go: open 10am to 10pm, 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue

WebsiteMap

Texas-style barbecue that calls itself steps from Barclays, and it is: brisket and fatty brisket at $29.50 a half pound, candied bacon at $14. It takes reservations, which is rare for barbecue, and it is open noon to 11pm daily.

Dean St Pizza

WebsiteMap

Sit-down before the game or show

Sofreh

Nasim Alikhani's Persian restaurant, open since 2018, is the best restaurant within five minutes of the arena. The lamb shank ($48) with a side of crisp tahdig ($6) is the order, and the eggplant and whey dip ($18) is the way to start. It is warm and grown up, a real contrast to the arena crowd outside.

Go for: the lamb shank and tahdig. Know before you go: dinner only, from 6pm per its booking listing, and closed Mondays; sit down at 6 for a 7:30 start. Do not confuse it with Sofreh Cafe on Flatbush, which is a daytime spot.

al di là Trattoria

WebsiteMap

A Venetian trattoria on Fifth Avenue that has been one of Park Slope's defining restaurants for decades. The malfatti, Swiss chard and ricotta gnocchi in brown butter and sage ($23), is a signature, and the braised rabbit over polenta ($38) is the full dinner. Our Park Slope guide has more nearby.

Go for: the malfatti. Know before you go: dinner only, from 5pm, and closed Sundays per its current site.

Drinks

Weather Up

WebsiteMapProfile

A dim, tiled Prohibition-style cocktail bar that has been on Vanderbilt since 2007, and still the nicest drink on the avenue. It opens in the late afternoon and is closed Mondays, and it is small enough that a group of more than four should split up. More in our cocktail bar guide.

Go for: a stirred drink before a concert. Know before you go: listings disagree on exact opening times, so check before you go.

Branded Saloon

WebsiteMapProfile

A Western-themed neighborhood bar with live music, drag shows and karaoke, open until midnight on weeknights and 1am on Saturdays. Weekday happy hour runs 4 to 7pm with cheap cans and drafts. It is the least precious drink in this guide.

Eat before doors open, skip the arena concessions, and finish the night with cheesecake at Junior's or a pint at the Brooklyn Inn.
