Independence

Inclusion in a Shout NY guide cannot be bought. Venues, brands and publicists do not review or approve our coverage before it runs.

Verification

Before a place goes into a guide we confirm it is open and that the details we print (address, neighborhood, what it serves, price range) match official and recent sources. Event dates come from organizers. When something is uncertain, we say so.

Updates

New York changes fast. We review guides on a rolling basis and mark them with an updated date when we change them. Closed places come out.

Sponsored content

Any paid partnership is labeled clearly as sponsored or presented by, at the top of the page. Our editorial team does not write advertising copy disguised as reporting.

Images

Photographs of specific people, venues and works are credited. Some illustrative images on Shout NY are created digitally and are not presented as documentary photographs of real people, places or events.
