The holidays in New York mean cold weather, expensive drinks, and James Murphy setting up camp in an outer borough warehouse. For the sixth consecutive year, LCD Soundsystem is playing a multi weekend hometown residency spanning late November and December. Seeing this band in a massive festival field is fine, but watching them sweat it out in a dark, packed room in their own city is the definitive way to experience their catalog.

This time, the band splits 12 shows between Knockdown Center in Queens and Brooklyn Steel in East Williamsburg. The Bowery Presents is producing the 2026 run, which promises live openers and special guest DJ afterparties to keep you out entirely too late on a Tuesday. They will also hit a major milestone on November 30: their 100th residency show in New York. One hundred percent of the proceeds from that specific show will benefit a soon to be announced charity.

A brief history of the holiday residency

Before we get into logistics, it helps to understand why this run matters so much. When LCD Soundsystem ended their hiatus in the late 2010s, they needed a way to reconnect with the city that built them. In 2017, they helped inaugurate Brooklyn Steel with a massive run of sold out shows. That initial stint proved so successful they decided to make it a holiday tradition, frequently returning to the same room. Over the years, these residencies have taken on different shapes. Sometimes they play a strictly tight set of hits, while other times they dig deep into obscure tracks or invite their friends to join them on stage.

Reaching the 100th show is a massive accomplishment for any artist, let alone an independent dance punk outfit that started by pressing vinyl in a downtown apartment. The fact that the milestone falls on a Monday night in Brooklyn is perfectly on brand. New York crowds show up regardless of the day of the week, especially when the proceeds are going directly to charity.

The 2026 residency schedule

The band is dividing its time between two reliable dance floors. The run kicks off at Knockdown Center for four nights from November 19 to November 22. They then head across town to Brooklyn Steel for the milestone 100th show on Monday, November 30, staying there through December 3. Finally, they return to Knockdown Center to close out the run from December 10 to December 13.

Where they are playing

Knockdown Center

MapProfile

This 50,000 square foot former glass and door factory feels like a proper warehouse rave once the lights go down. The main Atrium holds over 3,000 people under high wooden beams and exposed brick, giving the band plenty of room to stretch out their analog synthesizers. It is massive, but the sound design keeps the energy focused entirely on the floor.

Go for: The sprawling space and excellent late night DJ sets. Know before you go: Coat check is cashless, and the venue requires a physical government issued ID for entry.

Brooklyn Steel

Map

Brooklyn Steel is a more polished 1,800 capacity room with a custom L-Acoustics sound system and excellent sightlines. It was built for bands exactly like this one. In fact, LCD Soundsystem opened the venue back in 2017. You can stand on the wraparound balcony if you prefer not to be packed onto the main floor, but the energy is always best right under the massive disco ball.

Go for: Pristine acoustics and a slightly more intimate room. Know before you go: The lines for the three bars swell right before the band goes on, so grab your drinks during the live openers.

How to get tickets

Getting into an LCD Soundsystem holiday show requires a bit of tactical planning. Tickets for all 12 shows go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. Eastern via AXS.

If you want to beat the general rush, there are two earlier windows. American Express cardholders have access to a presale starting Tuesday, October 6, at 10 a.m. Eastern. An artist presale for fans opens on Wednesday, October 7, at 10 a.m. Eastern. You can register for the fan presale directly at the official event site. Expect tickets to sell out fast, especially for the weekend dates and the milestone Brooklyn Steel show.

If you miss out on tickets entirely, there are plenty of other shows happening this season. You can also explore the best small music venues in New York City to catch rising acts before they start playing warehouses themselves.

What to expect at the 100th show

The Monday, November 30, show at Brooklyn Steel is the anchor of the 2026 residency. This marks the 100th show LCD Soundsystem has played as part of their annual New York holiday runs, a tradition that proves just how tightly tied the band's legacy is to New York nightlife.

Because the band is donating 100 percent of the ticket proceeds to charity, this will be the hardest ticket of the bunch to score. They are also expanding the party format across the entire run of 12 shows, featuring live openers and DJ sets from special guests late into the night.

This afterparty element effectively turns the concert into a club night. LCD Soundsystem has always bridged the gap between indie rock and dance music, and this format honors their roots in the downtown party scene. It is a solid option if you are trying to figure out where to dance in New York this winter. The crowd always brings good energy, leaning older and more respectful than your average electronic music show. Check our Williamsburg guide if you need dinner plans before doors open.

The Shout NY take

LCD Soundsystem has made this residency an essential piece of the city winter calendar. The 2026 run leans into what they do best: great sound, dark rooms, and late nights. Be at your computer at 10 a.m. on October 9 if you want a spot on the floor. It is worth the hassle of a digital queue to hear "All My Friends" played live to a room full of New Yorkers in December.
